4. 表示依照、对照的意思，可译为“对照”、“参照”、“对比”等，或灵活处理译文。 如：

* The entire circuit should be checked against the schematic diagram.

应该对照原理图将整个线路检查一次。

四、around的译法

1. 表示“围绕”的意思，常可译为“周围”、“绕”等以及引申意思。这时around和 round表示相同的概念。如：

* A helix is a curve that winds around the outside of a cylinder or cone, such as the thread of a screw.

螺旋线是缠绕于圆柱体或锥体外表面的一种曲线，如螺钉的螺纹。

2. 表示“约”的意思，可译为“大约”、“约为”等。如：

* This type of turbine usually rotates at a very high speed, around 20,000 to 25,000 r/m. 

这种涡轮机通常以非常高的速度运转，每分钟约为两万到两万五千转。

五、as的译法

1. 表示方式，可译为“作为"、“按……（方式)”、“像……那样”、“正如”等。如： 

* The high-voltage transmission lines of most power are arranged as networks.

大多数高压输电线路按网络方式布局。

2. 介词as +过去分词

这种as结构跟在部分动词后面，引出宾语（或主语）补足语。这些动词有：regard… as, look upon...as, picture…as，think of...as, represent...as, refer to...as 等，可以认为 as 与过去分词之间可以看作是省略了 being。其中的as通常译为“是”、“为”。如：

* We may picture an atom as made up of a positive nucleus surrounded by electrons. 

我们可以设想原子的结构是一个带正电荷的原子核外面围着若干电子。
