(六）汉语名词转换成英语代词

汉语中的名词有时可转换成英语的代词。例如：

1) 虽然我们看不见空气，但我们周围处处是空气。

Though we cannot see it, there is air all round us,

2) 无线电波与光波相似，但无线电波的波长要长得多。

Radio weaves are similar to light waves except that their wave-length is much greater.

3) 小灯泡的电阻比大灯泡大。

A small lamp has a higher resistance than a large one.

(七）汉语名词转换成英语副词

汉语中的名词有时可转换成英语的副词。例如：

1) 纳的化学反应性很强。

Sodium is very active chemically.

2) 图2是这种装置的简图。

The device is shown schematically in Fig.2.

3) 虽然黄金是ー种重要的金属，但是人类的加工并没有改变它的性质。

Gold is an important metal but it is not essentially changed by man's treatment of it.

(八）汉语名词转换成英语形容词 

汉语中的名词有时可转换成英语的形容词。例如：

1) 污染导致成品率的降低。

Contamination leads to lower yield.

2) 这两种化合物都是酸。前者是强酸，后者是弱酸。

Both the compounds are acids. The former is strong, the latter weak.

3) 事实上玻璃的可溶性比石英大得多。

It is a fact that glass is much more soluble than quartz.

(九）汉语名词转换成英语连词

汉语中的名词有时可转换成英语中的连词。例如： 

1) 他在等着看别人听了这个消息后的反应。

He waited to hear how others took the news.
