The Lithuania Tribune Publishes a Signed Article by Ambassador Shen Zhifei Entitle "Silk Road Revitalized for a Splendid Future"

2019年4月25日，在第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛开幕之际，驻立陶宛大使申知非在立主流媒体立陶宛论坛网发表题为《琥珀奇石凝精萃 丝路古今焕新颜——写在第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛开幕之际》的署名文章。立主流纸媒《立陶宛晨报》也将在4月27日刊载本文立陶宛语版。全文如下：

On April 25th, 2019, on the occasion of the Opening of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the Lithuania Tribune, published a signed article entitled "Silk Road Revitalized for a Splendid Future", by H. E. Mr. Shen Zhifei, Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania. Lietuvos rytas will also publish the article in Lithuanian on April 27th. The full text is as follows:

　　早在古罗马时期，中国人开辟了经中国西部到中亚、西亚并连接地中海各国的陆上通道，史称“丝绸之路”。两千多年前，欧洲人为运输琥珀开辟了经由波罗的海地区向南穿越中欧最终达到地中海沿岸的贸易和通商之路，人称“琥珀之路”。“丝绸之路”和“琥珀之路”自古相通，在欧洲交汇。依托“琥珀之路”，波罗的海国家以区位优势成为欧亚经济文化的交汇点，促进了东西方贸易流通及欧亚文明的交融，而“丝绸之路”更是连接东西方贸易与文化的桥梁。

As early as in Ancient Roman time, the Chinese have explored and opened up routes of trade that linked western China, central and western Asia and the Mediterranean countries, the Silk Road. More than two thousand years ago, European merchants also opened routes of trade and commerce from the Baltic region through central Europe to Mediterranean countries, the Amber Road. The two roads were ever interlinked and converged in Europe. Leveraging its location on the Amber Road, Baltic region became the converging point of commerce and cultural exchange between Asia and Europe, promoting trade connectivity and interaction of civilizations of the Eurasia continent. The ancient Silk Road furthermore stood as an important bridge for economic and cultural exchanges between the East and the West.

　　正如琥珀“浓缩历史精华，凝聚时间美丽”，丝路精神穿越历史烟云，绵延不绝，历久弥新。全球化的21世纪，“一带一路”倡议顺应和平、发展、合作、共赢的时代潮流，已由理念变为行动，由愿景化为现实，促进发展，造福人民，也为古老的“琥珀之路”焕发青春带来新的生机。

　　4月25日，第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛在北京隆重开幕。高峰论坛是“一带一路”框架下最高规格的国际合作平台，也是一次具有标志性意义的国际盛会。来自150多个国家和90多个国际组织的近5000位外宾出席，其中包括360多位部长级官员，100多位国际组织负责人，涵盖了全球五大洲各个地区，涉及政府、民间组织、工商界、学术机构等社会各界。

As amber is endowed with natural beauty over millennia, the spirit of the Silk Road has been carried forward from generation to generation. Following the trend of the times for peace, development and win-win cooperation, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has been translated from an envisioned concept into real action and progress on the ground. Promoting development of participating countries and benefiting the people, the BRI has also infused new vigor into the ancient Amber Road.

The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation(BRF) opened in Beijing today. The BRF is the platform with the highest standard for international cooperation under the framework of the BRI, as well as an international event with landmark significance. Nearly 5,000 foreign guests from more than 150 countries and 90 international organizations participate in the forum. Foreign representatives attending the forum are from all sectors of society including governments, non-governmental organizations, business circles and academic institutions from various regions of the five continents.
