Remarks by H.E.Xiao Qian, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, at Annual Iftar with Indonesian Think Tanks and Media

　　斋月是穆斯林身心接受洗礼的神圣月份，也是亲友间互致问候、增进感情的重要时刻。今天，我们邀请各位媒体和智库的朋友共同开斋和交流，希望借此机会共叙友谊，进一步增进彼此了解。首先，我谨代表中国驻印尼大使馆向各位一直以来对使馆工作的大力支持表示衷心的感谢。同时，我也代表中国2300万穆斯林兄弟姐妹向各位以及广大印尼穆斯林兄弟姐妹致以斋月的诚挚问候和良好祝愿。

Dear friends from the media and think tanks,

Selamat sore!

Ramadan is a time for Muslims worldwide to commit themselves to spiritual renewal. It is also a time when Muslims celebrate joy and love between friends and families. Today, we are delighted to have invited so many friends from media and think tanks to break fast together. I hope through this event we will build deeper understanding and friendship. At the begining, I would like to thank you all for your continuing support of our embassy. Also I wish to convey the warm greetings and best wishes from 23 million Chinese Muslims to their Muslim brothers and sisters in Indonesia.

　　一、中印尼关系

　　近年来，在习近平主席和佐科总统的共同引领下，中印尼关系不断走深走实，取得丰硕成果，步入发展快车道。

　　一是高层往来频繁密切。两国元首迄今已7次会晤，就发展双边关系、深化战略对接达成系列重要共识。5月21日，印尼大选委员会宣布佐科—马鲁夫组合胜选后，习近平主席、王岐山副主席当天第一时间分别向佐科总统和马鲁夫当选副总统致贺电。卡拉副总统不久前赴华出席第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛，并同习近平主席和王岐山副主席举行会晤。

I. China-Indonesia Relations

In recent years, under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indonesian President Joko Widodo, our bilateral relationship has expanded in depth and breadth with fruitful results and embarked on the fast track of development.

First is frequent high-level exchanges. Until now, our Presidents have met for seven times and reached important consensus on building stronger relations and promoting synergy between development strategies. Following the announcement by General Elections Commission (KPU) on 21 May, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice President Wang Qishan sent congratulatory messages respectively to President Jokowi and Vice President-elect Ma'ruf Amin. Recently, Vice President Jusuf Kalla attended the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing and held bilateral meetings with President Xi and Vice President Wang.

　　二是战略对接日益深化。2018年两国正式签署《关于共同推动“一带一路”与“全球海洋支点”构想有关合作的谅解备忘录》，完成了战略对接顶层设计。战略对接第一阶段的标志性项目雅万高铁进入全面实施阶段。前不久，瓦利尼隧道贯通，标志着项目建设取得阶段性重要进展，为全线加速建设奠定了坚实基础。第二阶段项目“区域综合经济走廊”政府间合作正式启动，走廊建设合作联委会首次会议成功召开并达成积极共识。今年5月，卡拉副总统访华期间，两国签署“区域综合经济走廊”建设合作规划，“经济走廊”框架下一批合作项目正在加紧洽谈推进。

Second is growing synergy between development strategies. Our two countries officially signed the MoU on jointly promoting cooperation under the framework of Belt and Road Initiative and Global Maritime Fulcrum in 2018, which completed the top-level design for aligning development strategies. The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Rail, which is the signature project of phase-one strategy alignment, has entered full implementation. Most recently, the breakthrough of Walini tunnel marked yet another significant progress in high-speed rail project, paving the way for acceleration of full construction.

Furthermore, we have began cooperation on Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridors, which is the signiture project of phase-two strategy alignment. Early this year, the 1st Joint Steering Committee's Meeting was successfully held and reached positive consensus. During Vice President Jusuf Kalla's visit to China in May, our two sides signed cooperation plan on construction of the Corridors. Substantial negotiation on a number of projects under the framework are well underway.
