The actual help file text is contained in HTML files. Other files that require translation in a JavaHelp project are the table of contents, HelpSet (.hs), keyword index files, and images (.gif or jpg).
HTML files are generally translated using a translation memory tool. When editing HTML. files without translation memory, use the appropriate editor, preferably the one used to create the source files. In addition to HTML files containing the actual help content, JavaHelp projects include XML. files containing the project settings, table of contents, index, and file mappings. For each of these XML files, a DTD describing the markup and the structure is included in the JavaHelp development environment, in\doc\spec\ dtd.
The sections below discuss translation approaches for each of the translatable file types in HTML. Help projects.
HTML Files
HTML. files used in JavaHelp projects can be edited as regular HTML files. For more information on editing HTML files, refer to the HTML section on page 207.

HS Files
HelpSet (.hs) files contain all settings used to compile the JavaHelp file. The HelpSet file also contains all the information needed to run the help system. An .hs file is an XML file that can be edited in a text or XML editor.
This section lists the sections in an .hs file that may require translation.
