(二)转换为谓语

有时，英语句中的谓语难以译成汉语的谓语（此时的谓语动词多为系动词或被动语态）。如果这些句中的主语是具有动作意义的名词，就可以将该主语转换为汉语的谓语。例如：

11. Interconnection between the printed circuit boards assemblies are achieved with printed flexible wiring.

印刷电路板的各个元件用印刷软线连接起来。

12. The release of energy from all of the atoms occurs with explosive speed.

所有原子中的能量都以爆炸速度释放出来。

13. Air travel has become faster and faster，but sometimes there is a need for travelling slowly and even for stopping in midair.

空中飞行变得越来越快，但有时也需要飞得很慢，甚至需要停在半空。

14. A short introduction to binary arithmetic follows.

下文简要介绍二进制。

(三）转换为定语

这种译法往往是和改变原文主语同时进行的。如果英语句中的某一非主语成分要转换成汉语的主语，那么和该成分关系密切的原主语就应转换为汉语定语。例如：

15. In this simulation the normal projectile only reached a maximum range of 12Km.

在这次模拟试验中，标唯弹的最大射程仅为12公里。

16. Such motors have "no load" current approximately equal to the full load current.

这类电机的空载电流和满载电流基本相等。

17. Warm-blooded animals have a constant body temperature.

热血动物的体温是恒定的。

18. In some aspects air behaves like water.

在某些方面，空气的性质类似于水。

(四）转换为状语

英语中有时用表示时间意义的词作主语。此时，为了汉语表达的需要，可把这种主语转换为汉语的时间状语。例如：

19. February 1987 will see the signing of the memorandum of understanding.

议定书将于1987年2月签订。

20. 1959 saw the first appearance of a real flying ship in the world. That was the hovercraft.

1959年，世界上第一次出现了一艘真正的飞船，这就是气垫船。

21. The past 30 years saw tremendous strides in the development of surgery.

在过去的三十年间，外科学取得了突飞猛进的发展。

22. March 1980 found them working in a research institute.

1980年3月，他们在一家研究所工作。

在实际翻译中，需要把原文主语转换为汉语定语和宾语的情况比较多见。
