a. Given our overall trade deficit with the world in 1990, our deficit with Japan was surprisingly small by historical standards.
—Business Week,Apr. 6,1992 p. 12
b. China plays an increasingly important role in handling international affairs.
c. Mr. Wang acted very successfully.
a. If conducted in a healthy way, competition will stimulate a country's development both eoonomically and technologically, and will allow the limited social resources to flow to the more efficient enterprises. In addition, competition and annexation will help regulate the overall structure of industry and the product mix of a country.
