（二）词义的形象化或具体化

在汉语中，有些常用词含义比较笼统、比较概括，这些词语在译成英语时，往往可以根据上下文的具体情况，用英语中含义比较具体的词来译出，可以使译文更加生动、有力。 例如：

1）他目光敏锐，什么事都逃不了他。

He has a keen eve. Nothing can escape him.

2）会上表扬了不少好人好事。

At the meeting many fine persons and fine deeds were praised.

3）超大规模集成电路仍处于发展初期。

VLSI is still in its infancy.

4）群众对她颇有g坪。

The broad masses have a rather high opinion of him.

5）目前，煤仍然是蒸气动力厂锻常用的能源。

At present coal is the most common food of a steam plant.
