2013年，习近平主席提出共建“丝绸之路经济带”、“21世纪海上丝绸之路”合作倡议。目前，已有包括萨摩亚在内的124个国家和29个国际组织同中方签署了170多份“一带一路”合作文件。4月25日至27日，在北京举行的第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛上，包括近40位外国领导人在内、来自150个国家、92个国际组织的6000余名外宾出席，形成了一份283项的成果清单。

Since its inception in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has received strong endorsement and warm support from the world at large. A total of 126 countries and 29 international organizations have signed relevant cooperation documents with China so far. The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) has just concluded in Beijing, with the theme of "Belt and Road Cooperation: Shaping a Brighter Shared Future". Nearly 40 leaders of foreign states and governments and some 5000 representatives from more than 150 countries and many international organizations attended this major event.

　　“一带一路”之所以能得到国际社会的积极响应和广泛参与，我认为，关键在于其体现了“己欲立而立人，己欲达而达人”的中国传统哲思，顺应了和平与发展的时代潮流，坚持了“共商、共建、共享”原则，更重要的是，它切切实实地惠及了“一带一路”沿线国家和人民。据统计，中国同“一带一路”沿线国家贸易额累计超过6万亿美元，对外直接投资超过800亿美元，建设境外经贸合作区82个，上缴东道国税费20多亿美元，为当地创造近30万个就业岗位。“一带一路”合作将使全球贸易成本降低1.1%-2.2%，促进2019年全球经济增速至少提高0.1%。

The BRI has been warmly received by the international community with world-wide participation. I think the reason behind is that as an embodiment of the traditional Chinese wisdom--a man of virtue will seek to establish others while establishing himself, it is in line with the global trend of peace and development, and upholds the golden principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. More importantly, it has brought real benefits to the countries and people along the BRI. The total trade volume between China and the BRI countries has exceeded $US6 trillion, with more than $US80 billion having been invested. The 82 cooperation parks jointly built by China and other participation countries have created about 300,000 jobs and tax revenue worth of over $US2 billion for host countries. The latest studies by the World Bank and other international institutions indicate that the BRI cooperation will cut the cost of global trade by 1.1 percent to 2.2 percent, and increase the growth rate of the 2019 global economy by at least 0.1 percent.

　　习近平主席讲过，“一带一路”源于中国，但机会和成果属于世界。“一带一路”为包括萨摩亚在内的太平洋岛国带来新的发展机遇。世界银行研究显示，共建“一带一路”将使“发展中的东亚及太平洋国家”国内生产总值平均增加2.6%至3.9%。中国与萨摩亚“一带一路”合作前景广阔、潜力巨大，特别是在生态环境保护、应对气候变化、基础设施建设、互联网科技合作、人文交流合作以及旅游、教育、医疗、农业等诸多领域。中国使馆将与萨相关部门密切配合，积极探索更高层次、更广领域的务实合作，共同打造更多高质量合作成果，为中萨相互尊重、共同发展的全面战略伙伴关系注入不竭的动力。

As remarked by Chinese President Xi Jinping, "the BRI may be China's idea, but its opportunities and outcomes are going to benefit the world". The BRI has brought new development opportunities to Samoa and other Pacific Island countries. According to a World Bank study, the BRI will increase the GDP of East Asian and Pacific developing countries by 2.6 to 3.9 percent on average. There is huge potential and great prospects for China-Samoa cooperation under the BRI framework, especially in terms of environmental protection, ecological protection, climate change, infrastructure building, Information technology, cultural exchanges, tourism, education, health and agriculture. The Chinese Embassy in Samoa will continue to work closely with all sectors of the Samoan government for broader and more in-depth practical cooperation. I believe the high quality cooperation results we produce jointly will inject steady, inexhaustible vitality to the China-Samoa Comprehensive Strategic Partnership featuring mutual respect and common development.
