China and the Arab world were friends in the past, are friends today and will remain friends forever. The Chinese people will always be the trusted brothers of the Arab people. China will continue to play a constructive role in promoting a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Middle East issue in order to achieve peace, security and stability in the region,

 

2. 近年来，阿拉伯国家经济增长较快，总体实力增强，国际地位大大提升。但是他们仍在遭受饥饿、贫穷、疾病以及战争造成的混乱所带来的痛苦。阿拉伯国家对建立和平、谋求发展、促进合作有着强烈的愿望，相互尊重、平等相待，建立一个合理的国际新秩序也是他们的共同心愿。 

Arab countries have achieved relatively fast economic growth in recent years and enjoy ever rising overall strength and international status. However, they are still plagued by hunger, poverty, diseases and war chaos. They have strong desire of building peace，seeking development and promoting cooperation and share common, aspiration of mutual respect, equal treatment and establishment of a just and rational new international order.

 

3. 中国和阿拉伯国家自新中国建立以来共同经历了风风雨雨。近年来，中阿友好关系长足发展，但是双方仍然而临非传统威胁。加强对话，增进友谊，加深互信，维护安全与稳定，实现共同发展符合双方的根本利益。

China and Arab countries have stood together through thick and thin since the founding of New China in 1949. In recent years, the friendly cooperation between China and Arab countries has achieved long-term progress, but both sides still face severe challenges of non-traditional threats. To strengthen dialogue, consolidate friendship, deepen mutual trust, maintain security and stability and realize common development comply with the fundamental interest of both sides.

 

4. 2004年1月，胡锦涛主席访问位于开罗的阿拉伯国家联盟总部时，中阿双方共同宣布建立“中阿合作论坛”。经过近六年的发展，“中阿合作论坛”巳建立起部长级会议、高官会、企业家大会、友好人会、新闻合作论坛等涵盖政治、经济、人文等领域的十余项合作机制。

In January 2004, when President Hu Jintao visited the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, the two sides jointly announced the establishment of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. After almost six years of efforts，more than ten cooperation mechanisms have been put in place within the framework of the Forum, such as the ministerial meeting, senior officials meeting, business conference, friendship conference and media cooperation forum. They cover political, economic, cultural and other fields.

 

5. 中国是最大的发展中国家，加强和发展与其他发展中国家的闭结合作是中国对外政策的基石。“中阿合作论坛”拓展了中阿合作的渠道、丰富了中阿合作的内涵，已成为中阿加强集体对话和开展务实合作的有效平台，为新时期推动建设中阿新型伙伴关系发展发挥着积极作用。

China is the biggest developing country and to consolidate and develop unity and cooperation with other developing countries is the cornerstone of Chinese foreign policy. With the mechanisms opening new avenues and enriching the content of cooperation，the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum has become an effective platform for strengthening collective dialogue and practical cooperation between China and Arab countries. It is now playing an active role in promoting the new China-Arab partnership under changed circumstances.
