寒热病/Han Re Bing

(Cold and Heat)

皮寒热者，不可附席，毛发焦，鼻槁腊，不得汗。取三阳之络，以补手太阴。

When the exogenous evil invades the skin and the fine hair to cause cold and heat of the patient, his skin can not tolerate to attach the mattress, his skin and fine hairs are withered and his nostrils are dry without any sweat, it should be treated by pricking the collateral points of the Foot Taiyang Channel, and invigorate by pricking the Hand Taiyin Channel.

肌寒热者，肌痛，毛发焦而唇槁腊，不得汗，取三阳于下以去其血者，补足太阴以出其汗。

When the exogenous evil invades the muscle causing the patient to have cold and heat, he will have pain in the muscle, withering of the hair, dryness of the lips and he has no sweat. It should be treated by pricking the collateral points of the Foot Taiyang Channel on the lower extremities and let out the stagnated blood, then, invigorate by pricking the Foot Taiyin Channel to cause sweating.

骨寒热者，病无所安，汗注不休。齿未槁，取其少阴于阴股之络;齿已槁，死不治。骨厥亦然。

When the exogenous evil penetrates into the bone causing the patient to have cold and heat, the pain will have nowhere to rest, and the patient will perspire all over the body; if the teeth are not withered, it should prick the collateral points of Foot Shaoyin Channel on the inner side of the thigh; if the teeth are withered, it is a fatal disease. In diagnosing and treating the jue-syndrome of bone, it should treat after the same method.

骨痹，举节不用而痛，汗注烦心。取三阴之经补之。

In bone bi-syndrome, all the bone joints in the body of the patient are painful and the joints fail to move nimbly, the patient has pouring perspiration, and the depressinon of the chest. Prick the points of the Hand and Foot three Yin channels and apply the invigorating therapy.

身有所伤血出多，及中风寒，若有所堕坠，四以懈惰不收，名日体惰。取其小腹脐下三结交。三结交者，阳明、太阴也，脐下三寸关元也。

When the body of the patient is hurt by a blade of metal, bleeds a lot and he has also contracted wind-evil, or the patient is emaciated in the four extremities, reluctant to move about due to falling from a high place which is called 'fatigue and flaccid of limbs', it should be treated by pricking the Sanjiejiao point of the Ren Channel (Guanyuan point) three inches

below the navel. The San-jiejiao point means the triple conection, it is the place where Foot Yangming, Foot Taiyin and the Ren channels meet.

厥痹者，厥气上及腹。取阳明之络，视主病也，泻阳补阴经也。

When one has the Jueni and the bi-syndrome, the energy will reverse up from the foot to attack the lower abdomen. When treating, prick the collateral points of the Yin or Yang channel, but must find out first where the main disease is; when the main disease is in the Yang channel, apply purge therapy, when it is in the Yin energy, apply invigorating therapy.

颈侧之动脉人迎。人迎，足阳明也，在要筋之前。要筋之后，手阳明也，名日扶突。次脉，足[足少阳脉也:张注本“足少阳”下无“脉”字]少阳脉也，名日天牖。次脉，足太阳也，名日天柱。腋下动脉，臂[臂:《本输篇》作“手”]太阴也，名日天府。

The artery on the lateral side of the neck is the Renying point, it belongs to the Foot Yangning Channel of Stomach and locates in front of the neck's tendon. Behind the neck's tendon is the Futu point which belongs to the Hand Yangming Channel of Large Intestine. On the further side, it is the Tianyou point which belongs to the Foot Shaoyang Channel, and on the further side is the Tianzhu point which belongs to the Foot Taiyang Channel of Bladder. The point in the artery of the armpit is the Tianfu point which belongs to the Hand Taiyin Channel of Lung.

阳迎头痛，胸满不得息，取之人迎。暴瘖气鞭，取扶突与舌本出血。暴聋气蒙，耳目不明，取天牖。暴挛痫眩，足不任身，取天柱。暴瘅内逆，肝肺相搏，血溢鼻口，取天府。此为天牖五部。

When the Yang evil energy reverses in the Yang channel and causes headache to have fullness of the chest and dyspnea, prick the Renying point. When one has dysphonia all of a sudden and the blockage of energy, prick the Futu point and the root of tongue to cause bleeding. When one has sudden onset of deafness, over-abundant . vital energy and can not see and hear things clearly, prick the Tianyou point. When one has contracture of the limbs suddenly, has epilepsy or spasm and the heel can hardly sustain the body, prick the Tianzhu point. When one is suddenly hot and thirsty, the abdominal energy reverses up, the fire evils of the lung and liver combat causing the blood to run rashly and overflows on the nose and mouth, prick the Tianfu point. These are the locations of the five window-acupoints related to the orifices of head and face.
