The Java Internationalization and Localization ToolKit was released by Sun Microsystems in 1999 to facilitate internationalization and localization of Java applications.
The toolkit contains the following components:
• The Project Manager module defines a project to manage all source files and corresponding resource bundles.
• Internationalization Verifier checks Java files for internationalization issues, and reports any errors found.
• Message Tool defines resource bundles, converts and exports message text, and generates resource bundles in different locales.
• Resource Tool merges and compares different resources, converts the resource bundle type from list to property, and converts the encoding of resource files, for example to Unicode.
• Translator is used to translate the resource bundles and to leverage existing translations.
