在科技英语中，充当主语的动作性名词连同其修饰语有时可能包含有较多的信息，而充当谓语的动词往往意义比较空泛。这时如将作主语的动作性名词译成谓语，常可使译文重点突出，更加符合汉语的表达习惯，取得良好的效果。举几种情况叙述如下。

1. 在原文句子中,主语是动作性名词,谓语是do,give,make, carry(out),realize,perform,effect等动词时,可将主语译为谓语,谓语动词省译。如：

1) A displacement of the drum support to the right is carried out by the draw plate and the screw.

利用拉板和螺钉使鼓轮支架向右位移。（省译谓语is carried out）

2) Measurement of the adjusted voltage is performed by the meter（4）.

用仪表（4）测量调节好的电压。（省译谓语is performed）

3) Special care shall be given for the arrangements and easy access to stored parts.

应当特别注意存储零件的排列和拿取方便。（省译谓语shall be given)

4) After correct arrangement of the box girders respective to the filter housing and/or the longitudinal wall upper parts and supporting

structure, the complete welding of the bracings, distribution girders and box girders to each other and to the longitudinal wall upper part is

effected.

在各个箱形梁相对于收尘器外壳和（或）纵向壁上部部件以及支承结构安排合适之后，可以把撑杆、分配梁和箱形梁相互之间配套焊好，再焊接到纵向壁上部部件上。（省译谓语is effected）

2. 在原文句子中，主语是动作性名词，谓语是系词be和某些形容词（如possible,automatic,necessary,accessible等）时,可将此主语转译成谓语。例如：

1)Compensation of the line resistance is possible.

线路电阻能够朴偿。

2) An alternation of the usual environmental living condition is necessary for obtaining desynchronization.

为了获得同步破坏，必须更换通常的生活环境。

3) Control and timing adjustments are easily accessible on these replaceable modules.

对于这些可更换的标准件，可以很方便地控制和定时调节。

3. 科技资料中，由于版面限制等原因，不用句子只用短语叙述一个完整意思的情况经常遇到，特别是在表格和图纸上出现得更多。在这种情况下，可以把短语译成无主语的句子，动作性名词转译为句中的谓语。例如：

Rev. D: 18/02/81 —Change of denomination of cells.

                          —Addition of type of LV terminals.

                          —Correction of type of CT's.

修改版D：81，2，18一改变了元件的名称。

                              一增加了低压端子的类型。

                              —订正了电流互感器的型号。
