翻译有中国各民族特色的东西，应该注意民族文化内涵，要尽量防止中国文化的“缺失”。如把“人民币”翻译成Chinese dollars，把清明说成Chinese Easter，把好的景点说成是Oriental Venice等，这种高度的翻译词语杂合（textual hybridizing )实际上是一种“文化自贬，，，翻译上犯忌，即翻译中的“文化他性”（cultural otherness)现象的泛滥成灾。还有一些中度杂合的翻译词语，如用dumpling；Chinese meat ravioli来指称“饺子”。在过去的百年历史中，此种翻译危害不少，扭曲了中华的文化形象，淹没了华夏的文化身份，损伤了民族尊严，应该结束了。当然，外来视角的讲法也是普遍存在的，如把人民币叫着“ Chinese yuan （中国元），可以比较我们自己的叫法:RMB(¥)(人民币）（元）。西方国家都习惯这种叫法，如“日本圆” (Japanese yen)，澳元（Australian dollar)，等。
