Remarks by Consul General Xu Erwen at the Reception in Celebration of China-New Zealand Film Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative

尊敬的新西兰民族事务部副部长迈克尔·伍德，

新西兰国会议员霍建强先生、梅丽莎·李女士，

新西兰“一带一路”促进委员会主席鲍勃·哈维爵士，

冯小刚导演，

女士们，先生们，朋友们，

　　大家晚上好，

　　首先欢迎冯小刚导演和他的团队出席今晚活动，感谢各位朋友的光临。在此，我想向大家特别介绍一下：冯小刚先生是中国杰出电影导演和世界知名艺术家；今天一起同来的还有他美丽的妻子徐帆，她是中国家喻户晓的电影明星；以及两位中国知名年轻影视明星黄轩、杨采钰。此外还有新西兰年轻电影明星丽迪亚。今晚，我的官邸闪耀着这么多著名的电影导演和明星，这在中国驻奥克兰总领事馆史上还是第一次。

Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you so much for joining us tonight. My warmest greetings and welcome to all the distinguished friends present here tonight. First of all, I wish to introduce you Mr. Feng Xiaogang, an outstanding film director of China and a very famous artist, his beautiful wife Xu Fan, a household film star in China and the other two well known young film stars, Mr. Huang Xuan and Ms. Yang Caiyu. We also have Ms. Lydia, a famous Kiwi actress with us. Tonight my residence is glittered with so many famous film director and stars, which is the very first time in history of the Consulate General in Auckland.

　　我很高兴举办此次招待会，不仅因为我和我的同事们都是冯导的“粉丝”，更因为冯导是为促进中新两国电影业的合作而来。2014年习近平主席对新西兰成功进行国事访问，期间双方就合作拍摄电影达成协议。冯导此次来新拍片就是为了宣传“2019中国—新西兰旅游年”，为了推进两国“一带一路”建设，也是为了落实习主席访新成果。

I am so pleased to host the reception tonight in honor of Mr. Feng Xiaogang, not only because many of my colleagues and I are his fans but also because he is here to promote the co-operation of film industry between our two countries. He is here to implement the agreement reached by our two countries on the co-production of films during President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to New Zealand in 2014. He is here to promote China-NZ Tourism Year and push forward the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative between our two countries.

　　电影是促进世界不同文化背景人民之间相互了解、友谊与合作的重要桥梁。在过去几年里，我们见证了中国电影产业的快速发展。去年，中国制作了1000多部电影，其中90%是故事片，总票房首次超过90亿美元。中新电影合作面临着巨大的机遇。新西兰有美丽风景、良好电影制作设施和服务以及友好的人民，是理想的电影拍摄地。维塔工作室为中国电影提供了世界级的后期制作服务，不久前放映的《流浪地球》总票房达50亿元人民币就是一个很好例子。我坚信，深化中新电影交流与合作，不仅将促进两国电影业的发展，也将增进两国人民之间的相互了解和友谊。

Film serves as an important bridge in promotion of the mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation among peoples of different backgrounds in the world. Over past years, we have witnessed fast growing of Chinese film industry. Last year more than 1000 films were produced by China with 90% features. The total box office for the first time exceeded 9 billion US dollars. There is a mutual recognition that film collaboration between China and NZ is faced with great opportunities. NZ, with its beautiful landscapes, good facilities and services as well as friendly people, is an ideal place for film shooting. Weta Workshops have provided world-class post-production service to Chinese movies, such as Wandering Earth with its total box office 5 billion RMB. I strongly believe that deepening China-NZ exchanges and cooperation in film will not only promote the growth of our film industries, but also enhance mutual understanding and friendship between our two peoples and two countries.
