Recently, upon the upcoming second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Barbados, Yan Xiusheng published a signed article entitled "Belt and Road Cooperation Shaping a Brighter Shared Future" in the mainstream media of Barbados including The Advocate Newspaper and Nation News. 　　4月25日至27日，第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛将在北京举行。论坛以“共建‘一带一路’，开创美好未来”为主题，核心是推动“一带一路”国际合作实现高质量发展。习近平主席将出席高峰论坛开幕式并发表主旨演讲。届时，中方将欢迎来自150多个国家的数千名各界代表共商“一带一路”国际合作大计，总结合作进展，规划合作蓝图。

　　“一带一路”源自中国，属于世界。习近平主席提出“一带一路”倡议近6年来，我们始终倡导共商共建共享原则，积极推动政策沟通、设施联通、贸易畅通、资金融通、民心相通等“五通”，致力于深化国际合作，维护多边主义，促进世界经济增长。

From April 25 to 27, the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) will be held in Beijing, China. The theme of this year's BRF is Belt and Road Cooperation Shaping a Brighter Shared Future, with advancing Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation toward quality development as its core. H.E. President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the BRF and make a keynote speech. During the BRF, China will welcome thousands of representatives from more than 150 countries to Beijing to take stock of what has been achieved and draw a blueprint for future cooperation to further enrich BRI cooperation.

While the BRI is launched by China, its benefits should be shared by the world. Since the BRI was first proposed by H.E. President Xi six years ago, we together with our partners, have advanced the work with the guidance of the principle of consultation and cooperation for shared benefits, and focusing on connectivity in the five priority areas of policy, infrastructure, trade, finance and people-to-people ties, aiming to deepen international cooperation, safeguard multilateralism, and boost global growth.

　　经过近6年的实践，“一带一路”已经成为广受欢迎的国际公共产品。目前，已有126个国家和29个国际组织同中方签署了“一带一路”合作文件。共建“一带一路”助力沿线国家经济发展和民生改善的成功故事不断涌现。通过参与“一带一路”合作，有的国家建起了第一条高速公路、第一条现代化铁路，有的国家第一次发展起了自己的汽车制造业，有的国家解决了困扰多年的电力紧缺问题。据统计，“一带一路”合作项目为东道国增加税收收入20多亿美元，为当地创造将近30万个就业岗位。世界银行等国际机构最新研究表明，“一带一路”合作将使全球贸易成本降低1.1-2.2%，将促进2019年全球经济增速至少提高0.1%。

After 6 years' work, the BRI has become a widely welcomed international public good. So far, a total of 126 countries and 29 international organizations have signed BRI cooperation documents with China. And the BRI has delivered fruitful outcomes in boosting economic growth and improving people's lives in participating countries. Through BRI cooperation, some countries now have their first motorways or modern railways, some has developed its own car industry, and some have seen an end to their longstanding power shortages. According to the statistics, the BRI cooperative projects have created more than US$2 billion in tax revenue and about 300,000 jobs for host countries. The latest studies by the World Bank Group and other international institutions suggest that the BRI cooperation will cut the costs of global trade by 1.1 to 2.2 percent, and will contribute at least 0.1 percent of global growth in 2019.
