Chinese calligraphy and painting is not only the cream of traditional Chinese culture and arts, but also a unique component of human civilization. On display today are the works of some famous Chinese painters and calligraphers. Their fine works are of a high artistic caliber, which vividly depict the beautiful landscapes, and the ethnic and social traditions and customs in China. These works will help people in the United Nations to have a better understanding of China，and will also open a window of friendship for the cultural exchanges between the people in China and the rest of the world.

Facing challenges, China needs the understanding of the worlds and the world needs to know more about China. Both Lang Lang and the London Symphony are cultural ambassadors. In their work together, they were promoting exchanges and increasing understanding between different countries and different peoples. Their joint performance at the“Beyond the Great Wall”music festival helped build the bridge across the two cultures and two peoples for better exchanges and understanding.

9.在过去的三年中，中非文化纽带得到加强。来自61个非洲国家的官员、专家和艺术家受邀到中国参加“文化政策研讨”、“创意绘画”等项目。2009年“中国文化聚焦”大型交流活动遍及20个非洲国家，全面展示了中同独特的传统和文化。在未来三年里，中国政府每年还将为4000非洲学生提供奖学金来中国学习。
In the past three years, cultural bonds between China and Africa have been strengthened. Officials, experts and artists from 61 African countries have been invited by the Chinese government to participate in projects such as“Cultural Policy Discussion”and “Creative Thinking in Painting”.“2009 Chinese Culture Focus”reached over 20 African countries, showing unique Chinese tradition and culture in all aspects. The Chinese government will provide fellowships to 4,000 African students to study in China per year in the next 3 years.

10.中印两国同属世界文明古国，两国之间的文化交流可以追溯到古代。中国高僧法显和玄奘千里迢迢来到印度取得佛经，印度学者鸠摩罗什把佛经翻译成了中文，而印度高僧菩提达摩成为了中国少林寺的第一位住持。这些都是历史上双边交往的生动见证。在21世纪的今天，中印两国同作为新兴的经济体，正在继承和扩大这种交流，并在更广泛的意义上进一步发展。
China and India are two ancient civilizations. The culture interaction between two countries can be dated back into ancient time. The Chinese monk Fa Xian and Xuan Zang traveled to India and brought back Buddhist scriptures. The Indian scholar Kumarajiva translated sutras into Chinese and Indian monk Bodhidharma became the first patriarch of the Shaolin Monastery in China. These are vivid testimonies of bilateral exchanges in history. Today, in the 21st century, China and India, the two new emerging economies, are carrying on such exchanges and expand in a broader sense further.
