这是法侓英文中又一个常用句式。其中的purpose可以是复数，也可以是单数，但本文主要讨论的是以复数形式出现的for the purposes of。习惯普通英语的人士通常都会认为翻译含有这个短语的句子可以不费任何心思：“为了……目的”便是其对应的译文。但是，在法律英语中，该短语的翻译并不如一般人想象的那么简单。尽管在法律英语中，该短段也作“为了……目的”解， 例如：

但是，这两种用法都只是中国法律的汉译英文本中的例句。在原文为英文的法律文本中，以表达“为……目的”这层意思而使用for the purpose of的句子并不多见，译成“为......目的”的译例则更为罕见。
