本文的作者是冰心，中国近现代最为著名的作家之一，其作品在中国广为流传。原名谢婉莹，笔名冰心，取“一片冰心在玉壶”为意。曾任中国民主促进会中央名誉主席，中国文联副主席，中国作家协会名誉主席、顾问，中国翻译工作者协会名誉理事等职，著名诗人、作家、翻译家、儿童文学家。本文选自于《光明日报》，记述的是她为王一地新书作序的事情，由庄绎传翻译。文中文学色彩较浓，翻译时意境成为较重要的问题。

王一地同志从1957年就当了中国少年儿童出版社的编辑，我们在多次“儿童文学”的聚会中早就认识了。
