英语中有一些动词要求有复合宾语（即宾语和宾语补足语）。由于这种复合宾语的结构一般都较长，而且大多数宾语及其补足语之间存在着逻辑上的主谓关系，因此为了汉语表达的需要，常应把这种复合宾语拆译成单独的一个句子。试看以下各例。

1. The U.S. views the transfer of conventional arms and other defense articles as an undispensable component of its foreign policy.

美国认为，出售常规武器和其它防务用品是其外交政策的一个重要组成部分。

2. The official news agency reported two people killed and four badly wounded in the clash.

据官方通讯社报道，在冲突中有两人死亡，四人受重伤。

3. We find almost all physical properties of matter influenced by heat.

我们发现，物质的几乎所有物理特性都受热的影响。

4. We showed these compound as having different structures.

我们巳经证明，这些化合物的结构是不同的。 

5. From Jan. 1, 1979，the United States of America recognized the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China.

从1979年1月1日起，美利坚合众国确认；中华人民共和国为中国的唯一合法政府。

6. The study found a direct link detween the amount of fish in the diet and the rate of death from heart disease.

这项研究发现，鱼在饮食中所占的比重与心脏病的死亡率有着直接的关系。

7. Researchers have found substances in the blood of cancer patients that to not appear in healthy persons.

研究人员已经査明，癌症患者的血液中存在着健康人所没有的物质.。

动名词复合结构在句中作动词或介词的宾语时，也常可单独译成一句。例如：

8. We know of the earth behaving as a large magnet.

我们知道，地球的作用就象一块大磁铁。

9. Atomic bombs and hydrogen bombs are rated megatons of TNT，referring to their having the energy equivalent of so many million tons of TNT.

原子弹和氢弹的威力是以百万吨梯恩梯计算的，也就是说，它们所具有的能量相当于几百万吨梯恩梯。

10. This phenomenon accounts for ice having a lower density than water.

这一现象表明，冰的密度比水的小。

实践证明，英语简单句中某些成分的拆译，是避免译文结构冗长、语意含混的有效手法之一。但必须指出，拆译句中某一成分决不等于按照自己的思维重新组织译文。如果不拆译也能完美地表达出来，当以不拆为好。
