所谓全部否定，就是对被否定的词、句的意义作全部的而不是部分的否定。在英语中，全部否定是通过一些以字母“n”打头的否定词来表达的。这类否定词常用的有no, none, not, never, nobody, nothing, nohow, nowhere, neither...nor 等。由这类词构成的全部否定与汉语的否定形式基本相同，一般可照译为汉语否定句。但有时需要改变否定词的词序。例如：

1. During ordinary chemical reactions the nucleus of an atom does not undergo any changes.

在一般的化学反应中，原子核不发生变化。

2. The doctors did the research in order to help women who cannot conceive a boby in the normal way.

医生们进行的这项研究旨在帮助那些不能正常怀孕的妇女。

3. There is no sound evidence to prove this.

没有可靠的证据可以证明这一点。

4. The effect of the medicine is such a mild one as to stimulate the sweat glands.

这种药作用温和，不会剌激汗腺。

5. The absolute zero of temperature can never be reached.

温度的绝对零度是永远不会达到的。

6. IBM will probably never be able to regain its position as the undisputed colossus of the computer industry.

国际商用机器公司可能永远不能恢复它在计算机工业中无可争辩的巨人地位。

7. None of the inert gases will combine with other substances to form compounds.

无论哪一种惰性气体，都不会和其它物质化合而形成化合物。

8. Horsepower has nothing to do with the horse.

马力和马毫不相干。

9. A gas has neither definite shape nor definite volume.

气体既没有一定的形状，也没有一定的体积。

10. This material cannot withstand strong stresses, not can it resist high temperatures.

这种材料既经不住重压，又不耐高温。

11. The book was nowhere to be found.

那本书哪里也找不到了。
