The separate emergence in America of the“New Pragmatism”，associated with the celebration of central elements of the thought of John Dewey and other classical pragmatic thinkers, and of the New Confucianism, championed by a number of scholars throughout Asia and America, are phenomena of signal importance for both America and Asia.

在抓住主要矛盾，平衡处理译文的原则下，具体的操作是充满灵活性的， 而这种灵活性也是由不同的句子的句势决定的。

三、善用数序，彰显原意

社科文著说理道由，行文往往要求一个个观点清晰展现，让读者感受到层次分明，递进有序。译文要想让人看得懂，也要达到这种效果才行。一般来说，原文在论说过程中，有意识地将观点、主张等作前后或主次排列是一种常态，很多时候译文只要跟着原文的顺序译下去即可，因为原文的一、二、 三……（或第一、第二、第三……）标识已经非常清楚，如下面一例所示：

In this work we shall be arguing, first, for the unsuitability of the central tradition of rights -based liberalism for the Chinese situation. Second, we shall suggest that traditional Confucianism contains elements that might well be translated into a communitarian form of democratic society. The combination of these two arguments may give our work the appearance of a rather idealistic apology for China against the Western world.
