中华文明的四个特征：

　　中华文明是亚洲文明不可分割的组成部分，在同其他文明不断交流互鉴中形成的当前的特征：

　　——亲仁善邻、协和万邦是中华文明一贯的处世之道；

　　——惠民利民、安民富民是中华文明鲜明的价值导向；

　　——革故鼎新、与时俱进是中华文明永恒的精神气质；

　　——道法自然、天人合一是中华文明内在的生存理念。

- Four features of Chinese civilization

Chinese civilization is an inseparable part of Asian civilization. Chinese civilization, as an inclusive and integrated whole, has become what it is today through constant interactions with other civilizations.

1. Amity and good neighborliness are the principles guiding our interactions with other countries.

2. To deliver prosperity and security to the people is the overarching goal.

3. To keep up with reform and innovation are the abiding commitments.

4. To achieve harmony between man and nature is the underlying philosophy.

　　今日之中国，不仅是中国之中国，而且是亚洲之中国、世界之中国。正如中国和巴巴多斯，尽管我们两国相距遥远，我们的饮食和衣着风俗各不相同，但我们的人民拥有相同的价值理念，热爱彼此间的文化交流。今年2月，我们两国政府在北京签署了“一带一路”国际合作谅解备忘录。文化交流和民心相通是其中重要组成部分。上个月，3部巴巴多斯电影亮相2019年北京加勒比电影节，受到中国观众的热烈欢迎。在巴巴多斯，“鱼龙节”暨中国春节系列文化活动已连续举办5年。越来越多巴巴多斯人民通过“鱼龙节”认识中国，逐渐对中国文化充满兴趣。这只是中国和巴巴多斯间愈益紧密的文化交流和民心相通过程中的两个例子。面向未来，中国将继续同巴巴多斯加强交流合作，以更加开放的姿态拥抱世界，同其他国家和文明一道，共同为全人类创造更加美好的未来。

China today is more than a country itself. It is very much a part of Asia and the world. Just like China and Barbados, although our two countries are thousands of miles away from each other and our cuisines and ways of dress are different, our peoples share many common values and enjoy the exchanges of our two cultures. In February, our two countries signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation within the Framework of the BRI in Beijing; and culture exchange and people-to-people bond are among the most important components of the BRI cooperation. Last month, 3 Barbadian films, including the Abiola Movie, Liquid Gold: the Story of Rum in Barbados, and A Hand Full of Dirt, were screened in Beijing Caribbean Films Festival 2019 and warmly welcomed by Chinese viewers. Back in Barbados, the Fish and Dragon Festival has been held for 5 successive years. More and more Barbadians have had their first acquaintance with China, and have become interested in China's exquisite culture through this Festival. These are just two examples of the increasingly closer culture exchanges and people-to-people bond between our two countries. In a time to come, China will continue to enhance communication and cooperation with Barbados and open its arms wider to embrace the world, and join hands with other countries and civilizations to create a better world for all mankind.
