五色:黄色宜甘，青色宜酸，黑色宜咸，赤色宜苦，白色宜辛。凡此五者，各有所宜。五宜[五宜:周本与注本并无此二字]:所言五色[五色:《太素》卷二《调食》作“五宜”]者，脾病者，宜食稅米饭牛肉枣葵;心病者，宜食麦羊肉杏薤;肾病者，宜食大豆黄卷猪肉栗銮;肝病者，宜食麻犬肉李韭。肺病者，宜食黄黍鸡肉桃葱。

"In the five colours, yellow is suitable to sweetness, green is suitable to sourness, black is suitable to saltiness, red is suitable to bitterness and white is suitable to acridness. In the five colours, each has its suitability respectively. The so called five suitabilities are; the patient of spleen disease is suitable to take round-shaped rice, beef, jujube and celery; the patient of heart disease is suitable to take wheat, mutton, apricot and leek; the patient of kidney disease is suitable to take soybean, millet, pork and bean leaves; the patient of liver disease is suitable to take sesame, dog's meat, plum and Chinese chives; the patient of lung disease is suitable to take millet, chicken, peach and scallion.

五禁:肝病禁辛，心病禁威，脾病禁酸，肾病禁甘，肺病禁苦。

"The five contraindications are: When treating the disease of liver, applying acridness is forbidden; when treating the disease of heart, applying saltiness is forbidden; when treating the disease of spleen, applying sourness is forbidden; when treating the disease of kidney, applying sweetness is forbidden; when treating the disease of lung, applying bitterness is forbidden.

肝色青，宜食甘，航米饭牛肉枣葵[葵:《太素》卷二《调食》无此字]皆甘。心色赤，宜食酸，大肉麻李韭皆酸[大肉麻李韭皆酸:《太素》卷二《调食》“大”作“犬”，无“麻韭”二字]。脾色黄，宜食威，大豆豕肉栗藿[藿:《太素》卷二《调食》无此字]皆咸。肺色白，宜食苦，麦羊肉杏薤[薤:《太素》卷二《调食》无此字]皆苦。肾色黑，宜食辛，黄黍鸡肉桃葱[葱:《太素》卷二《调食》无此字]皆辛。
