黄帝曰:蹻脉起安止?何气荣水[荣水:《太素》卷十《阴阳乔脉》作“营此”]?岐伯答曰:脉[蹻脉:《素问.剌腰痛篇》王注作:“阴蹻]者，少阴[少阴:《素问.剌腰痛篇》王注“少阴”上有“足”字]之别，起于然骨之后，上内踝之上，直上循阴股入阴，上循胸里入缺盆，上出人迎之前，人颃，属目内眦，合于太阳、阳骄而上行，气并相还，则为濡目，气不荣则目不合。

Yellow Emperor asked: “Where does the Qiao Channel start and stop? With the help of which channel does it operate?" Qibo answerd: “The Yin Qiao Channel is another channel of the Foot Shaoyin Channel of Kidney, it starts from the rear of the Zhaohai point, ascends to the upper side of the inner ankle, runs along the inner flank of the thigh and enters into the external genitals, then, ascends along the abdomen and the chest to enter into the supraclavicular fossa, then comes out from the Renying, enters to the cheekbone, communicates with the inner canthus, joins the Foot Taiyang Channel of Bladder, and then, ascends again. The two energies of Yin Qiao and Yang Qiao channels encircle the eyes, if the Yin energy is over-abundant, the tears will be falling, if the Yang energy is overabundant, the eyes can hardly be closed."

黄帝日:气独行五脏，不荣六腑，何也?岐伯答日:气之不得无行也，如水之流，如日月[如日月之行不休:《难经・三十七难》无“如日月”七字]之行不休，故阴脉荣其脏，阳脉荣其腑，如环之无端，莫知其纪，终而复始。其流溢之气，内溉脏腑，外濡腠理。

Yellow Emperor asked: "when the energies of the Yin channels circulate in the five-viscera alone, it does not nourish the six-bowel, and why is it?" Qibo answered:"The flow of the channel energy is like the water-flow which never ceases. The Yin channel energies nourish the refined energy of the five-viscera and the Yang channel energies nourish the refined energy of the six-bowel, they pour into each other like a ring, terminates and starts again without end. As to the channel energy which is overflowing, it permeates the solid and hollow organs inside, and moistures the surface of the muscle and the skin outside."

黄帝曰:蹻脉有阴阳，何脉当其数?岐伯答曰:男子数其阳，女子数其阴，当数者为经，其不当数者为络也。

Yellow Emperor asked: "In the Qiao Channels, the Yang Qiao and the Yin Qiao are different, which of them is fifteen feet in length stated above?" Qibo said: "In a man, his Yang Qiao channel should be counted, and in a woman, the Yin Qiao channel should be counted. When the counted length which is included in the total length of channel, it is called the channel, the length which is excluded is called the collaterals. So, in a man, the Yang Qiao is the channel and the Yin Qiao is the collateral; in a woman, the Yin Qiao is the channel and the Yang Qiao is the collateral.
