五十营/Wu Shi Ying

(The Fifty Cycles of the Channel-energy Circulation)

黄帝日:余愿闻五十营奈何?岐伯答日;天周[天周:《甲乙》卷一第九作“周天”]二十八宿，宿三十[宿三十:《素向・八正神明论》王注“三十”上无“宿”字]六分，人气行一周[一周:《素问・八正神明论》王注“周”下有“天”字]，千八分。日行二十八宿，人经脉上下、左右、前后二十八脉，周身十六丈二尺，以应二十八宿。

Yellow Emperor said:“I like to know the condition of the fifty cycle-circulation of the channel energy. "Qibo said : “There are twenty eight constellations in the sky and the distance between each of them is thirty six minutes. The channel energy in human body circulates fifty cycles in a day and night, and it takes one thousand and eight minutes. In a day and night, the globe rotates to pass the twenty eight constellations, and the channels of a man distributed on the upper and lower, left and right and front and rear are also twenty eight, and the total length of them is one hundred and sixty two feet when one cycle of circulation in the whole body is completed, and the twenty eight channels correspond to the twenty eight constellations.

漏水下百刻，以分昼夜。故人一呼，脉再动，气行三寸，一吸，脉亦再动，气行三寸，呼吸定息，气行六寸。十息气行六尺，日行二分。二百七十息，气行十六丈二尺，气行交通于中，一周于身，下水二刻，日行二十五分。五百四十息，气行再周于身，下水四刻，日行四十分。二千七百息，气行十周于身，下水二十刻，日行五宿二十分。一万三千五百息，气行五十营于身，水下百刻，日行二十八宿，漏水皆尽，脉终矣。所谓交通者，并行一数也，故五十营备，得尽天地之寿矣，凡行八百一十丈也。

"Take one hundred graduations of leaking water in the clepsydra as the standard to divide the day and night. In an exhalation of a man, the pulse pulsates twice, and the pulse energy moves on three inches in the channel; in an inhalation, the pulse also pulsates twice and the pulse energy moves on three inches; in an exhalation and an inhalation which is called one respiration, the pulse energy moves on six inches. In ten respirations, the pulse energy moves on six feet; in twenty seven respirations, the pulse energy moves on sixteen feet and two inches which is exactly the time for the globe to rotate the distance of two minutes; it takes two hundred and seventy respirations for the channel energy to travel a cycle in the body, and the length of the channels is one hundred and sixty two feet. In the period of the mutual communication of energies for the circulation of a cycle in the two hundred and seventy respirations, it takes two graduations under the water level of the clepsydra, and 'the rotation of the globe is twenty minutes; in five hundred and forty respirations, the circulation of the channel is two cycles, the mark under the water level of the clepsydra is four graduations, and the rotation of the globe is forty minutes odds; in two thousand and seven hundred respirations, the circulation of the channel energy is ten cycles, the mark under the water level of the clepsydra is twenty graduations, and the rotation of the globe is five constellations and twenty minutes odds; in thirteen thousand and five hundred respirations, the circulation of the channel is fifty cycles, the mark under the water level of the clepsydra is one hundred graduations exactly, and the rotation of the globe is twenty eight constellations; by then, the water in the clepsydra has exhausted, and the channel energy has completed the distance of fifty cycles. The so called 'mutual communication'means to illustrate the circulating condition of the channel energy of one side to represent the conditions of both sides as the hand and foot channels of both sides are the same and they are communicating. When the conditions of the fifty cycles circulation of the channel energy is illustrated, it is the comprehensive condition of heaven and earth."
