当前，中非双方对中非关系的顺利发展既感到满意，又充满期待，认为中非合作互有需要、潜力巨大、空间广阔，应与时俱进、开拓创新、提质增效，实现新的更大的发展。为此，中非双方一致同意把今年在南非召开的论坛第六届部长会升格为峰会，共商新形势下中非合作的长远大计，可谓恰逢其时，水到渠成。
At present, both sides are satisfied with the smooth development of their relations, and both are full of expectations for the future growth of such relations. China and Africa agree that cooperation with each other serves the needs of both, and has tremendous potential and broad space. Such relations should keep pace with the times in a pioneering and innovative fashion, increase in quality and efficiency and move toward new and greater development. To this end, China and Africa agreed to elevate the 6th ministerial conference of FOCAC to a summit to jointly discuss the long-term strategy of cooperation under new circumstances. This is just as relevant as it is timely.
举办本次峰会首先是非洲国家的普遍期待。中非合作论坛是引领中非关系发展的一面旗帜。近年来，在论坛推动下，中非合作进入快车道，中国对非洲经济增长贡献率显著提升。非洲国家普遍看重中国改革开放30多年积累的丰富经验、充裕的资金、成熟的技术、性价比高的装备，希望加强同中国合作，搭乘中国经济发展的快车。
Firstly, this summit meets the common aspirations of African countries. FOCAC is a banner guiding the development of China-Africa relations. In recent years, FOCAC has propelled China-Africa cooperation onto a fast track. China's contribution to Africa's economic growth has increased significantly. Many African countries attach importance to China's rich experience, available funds, sophisticated technology and cost-effective equipment, accumulated after more than 30 years of reform and opening up. Their hope is to step up cooperation with China and get onboard the express train of China's economic development.
一段时间以来，非洲国家领导人纷纷向中方表示，希望将这次在非洲大陆召开的论坛部长会升格为峰会，东道国南非总统祖马更是多次热情邀请习近平主席赴南非共同主持论坛峰会。为了回应非洲兄弟的强烈愿望，习近平主席欣然决定与会，与非洲各国领导人共叙友谊、共话合作、共谋发展，共同把中非友好合作关系提升到新的水平。
For quite some time, leaders of African countries have expressed to China their hope for elevating the ministerial conference to a summit. Moreover, President Zuma of South Africa, the hosting country, has extended cordial invitation on many occasions to President Xi Jinping to co-chair the FOCAC summit in South Africa. In response to African brothers' strong aspirations, President Xi Jinping gladly agreed to attend the summit to renew friendship, discuss cooperation and pursue development together with African leaders to take China-Africa friendly relations and cooperation to a new height.
