3）汉英对应说法的跨文化理解和翻译

孤注一掷（to put all one's eggs in one basket)。把鸡蛋都放在一只篮子里，一摔就全坏。

命中注定(be in the cards)。原意为“在用扑克占卦时，出现在牌上”。与汉语的“算命算出来的”含义相当。

杀鸡取卵（to kill the golden goose)o原意为“杀掉下金蛋的鹅”。

进退两难（between the devil and the deep blue sea)。英语直译就成了 “处在恶魔与蓝色的深海之间”。

山穷水尽（be at the end of one's tether / rope) 。 tether是拴牛马的缰绳，这儿指到了尽头，尤法控制。虽与“黔驴技穷”含义类似，但碍于后者是汉语中的典故，因而不宜对译。
