Speech by Ambassador Qin Jian to Somalia at the Press conference on a Visit to Puntland State of Somalia

尊敬的丹尼先生，索马里联邦共和国邦特兰州主席，

各位来宾，

On October 31, 2019, the full text of ambassador Qin Jian's speech at the press conference on a visit to Puntland State was published by Somali National News Agency:

　　我非常高兴访问美丽的邦特兰州，邦特兰州是索马里重要州之一。我谨代表中国使馆，借此机会向邦特兰州政府和人民致以亲切的慰问和良好的祝愿，衷心感谢邦特兰州政府和人民长期给予中方的支持以及对我们一行的热情友好接待。

　　这是我第二次访问邦特兰州，一踏上这片美丽土地，就由衷感受到邦特兰的热情友好。我此行目的是为了增进中国和索马里人民的友好，考察邦特兰州投资营商环境，促进双方间投资合作。今年上半年，邦特兰州主席但尼先生访问了中国浙江省等地，双方就加强合作的领域进行了探讨，增进了相互了解，加深了友谊，感谢但尼总统和邦特兰州政府致力于发展双方友好合作关系。

Today, I am very happy to visit the beautiful Puntland, one of the important states in Somalia. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy, I would like to take this opportunity to extend cordial greetings and good wishes to the government and people of Puntland State, and sincerely thank the government and people of Puntland State for their long-term support to China and warm and friendly reception to our visit.

This is my second visit to Puntland State. When setting foot on this beautiful land, we feel the friendship of Puntland State. The purpose of my visit is to enhance the friendship between the Chinese and Somali people, investigate the environment of investment and business in Puntland State, and promote investment cooperation between the two sides. In the first half of this year, Mr. Deni, President of Puntland State, visited Zhejiang Province of China. The two sides discussed areas for strengthening cooperation, enhanced mutual understanding and deepened friendship. I would extend the appreciation to President Deni and the government of Puntland State for their efforts to develop friendly and cooperative relations with the Chinese side.

　　索马里是一个美丽的国家，具有巨大的发展潜力。索马里位于地中海苏伊士运河红海国际重要航道，地理位置独特。索马里靠近中东和欧洲，在印度洋具有明显的优势。索马里幅员辽阔，风能、太阳能等发展潜力巨大。索马里拥有3300多公里的海岸线和许多天然港口，海上航运无与伦比。索马里海域辽阔，渔业资源丰富，发展蓝色经济和海洋产业前景广阔，劳动力资源丰富，青年人口占索马里人口比重较高。索马里旅游资源丰富，是发展旅游业的理想之地。索马里还有庞大的海外爱国同胞，是投资索马里的重要力量。最重要的是索马里人民勤劳、聪明、富有创造力。这是一个充满希望和光明前景的国度。

Somalia is a beautiful country with great development potential. Somalia is in the international important shipping channel of the Mediterranean Suez Canal-Red Sea and its geographical position is unique. Somalia is close to the Middle East and Europe, and it has its obvious advantages in the Indian Ocean. Somalia is a country with a large land and plenty of its great potential to develop wind and solar energy. Somalia has more than 3300 kilometers of coastline, many natural ports, and the development of maritime shipping is unparalleled. Somalia has a vast sea area, rich fishery resources, broad prospects for the development of blue economy and marine industry. There are abundant labor resources and young people account for a high proportion of the population in the Somalia. Somalia has its rich resources in tourism and is an ideal place for the development of tourism industry. Somalia also has a large number of overseas patriots, who are important investors in Somalia. The most the important is the Somali people are diligent, intelligent and creative. These are a country with full of hope and bright prospects.

　　中国和索马里友好源远流长。早在600年前，中国著名航海家率船队访问摩加迪沙，开启了两国人民友好交往的历史。自1960年建交以来，两国各领域友好合作取得了丰硕成果，中国帮索马里建设了89个项目，包括国家大剧院、国家体育场、水电站以及从摩加迪沙到博萨索的高速公路等，促进了索马里经济社会发展，索马里当年坚定地支持中华人民共和国恢复联合国的合法席位。两国人民心中牢牢屹立着友谊的丰碑。1991年以来，中国积极支持索马里和平发展，在人道主义援助、人力资源开发、政府留学生等方面向索马里提供了力所能及的支持和帮助。

China and Somalia enjoy a long friendship. As early as 600 years ago, China's famous navigator led his fleet to visit Mogadishu, opening a history of friendly exchanges between the two peoples. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960, the friendly cooperation between the two countries in various fields has achieved fruitful results. China has helped Somalia to build 89 projects, such as the National Grand Theatre, the National Stadium, the hydropower station and the highway from Mogadishu to Boosaaso, which have promoted the economic and social development of Somalia. Somalia firmly supported the restoration of the legitimate seat of the people's Republic of China in the UN in that year. The monument of friendship stands firmly in the hearts of the two peoples. Since 1991, China has actively supported the peace and development in Somalia, and the Chinese government and people have provided support and assistance within its capabilities in the areas of humanitarian assistance, human resources development and government scholarships studying in China.
