2.来自普通词汇的专业术语

另外一些术语来自于一些常用词，当然在合同英语当中，这些常用词也变得不常用了，而是带有特定的法律术语特色。例如“determination”，通常指“终点，结束”,在合同中指的是某合同或某权益的终止。

(四）词语并列使用

合同英语中常见两个同义词或者是近义词由or或and连接使用。这类组合往往有固定的搭配和释义，翻译的时候要遵循习惯。这种并列结构的使用可以使表述意义更加完整精确,是合同语言的一大特色。常见的有：

 

able and willing 能够并愿意

alteration, modification or substitution 更改或修正

any and all        任何及所有

by and between        由……并在……之间

claim and demand 要求

complete and final understanding        全部和最终的理解

compensation or damages 补偿或赔偿

custom fees and duties 关税

covenants and agreements 契约和协议

due and payable        到期应付的
