(On Acupoints)

黄帝问曰:余闻气穴三百六十五，以应一岁，未知其所[《太素》“所”下有“谓”字]，愿卒闻之。岐伯稽首再拜对曰:窘乎哉问也!其非圣帝，孰能穷其道焉!因[《太素》“因”作“固”]请溢意尽言其处。帝捧手逡巡而却曰:夫子之开余道也，目未见其处，耳未闻其数，而目以明，耳以聪矣。岐伯曰:此所谓圣人易语，良马易御也。帝曰:余非圣人之易语也，世言真数开人意，今余所访问者真数，发蒙解惑，未足以论也。然余愿闻夫子溢志尽言其处，令解其意，请藏之金匮，不敢复出。

Yellow Emperor said:"I am told that a man has three hundred and sixty five acupoints which correspond with the day-number of a year, but I don't know their positions, I hope you can tell me about it."

Qibo bowed twice and said: "This is an embarrassing problem. How can one infer its principle save a sagacious emperor. Since you have mentioned it, I will try my best to explain it."

Yellow Emperor cupped one of his hand in the other before his chest and said modestly: "If you can tell me the essentials and inspire me to understand the acupoints which I have not seen and heard before, it will be just like causing me to have bright eyes and keen eares". Qibo said:"Your excellent ability of comprehension is just like the so-called 'a sage is always clever enough to understand things well, and a good horse can easily be reined'"

Yellow Emperor said: "I am not the kind of sage you said who is so brilliant. But even an ordinary person, his thought will be openned up when he knows the number of the acupoints in the meridians (this is what I want to know). What I am asking you is to enlighten me on my ignorance and remove my perplexity only, and I am not asking you to discuss its subtle theory. Since you have said that you want to try your best to explain the positions of the acupoints and make the essentials known to me, I will keep the record or your explaination in a golden chest saftly and never lose it."

岐伯再拜而起日:臣请言之，背与心相控而痛，所治天突与十椎及上纪[《太素》“上纪”下有“下纪”二字]，上纪者，胃脘也，下纪者关元也。背胸邪系[《太素》“邪上无“胸背”二字，“系”作“主”]阴阳左右，如此其病前后痛滴，胸胁痛而不得息，不得卧，上气短气偏[林校云:“按别本‘偏’作‘满’”]痛，脉满起，斜出尻脉，络胸胁[《太素》“胸”下无“胁”字]支心贯鬲、上肩加天灾，斜下肩交十椎下[《太素》“下”者“藏”字,杨上善说:“下藏者，下络肾藏也”]

and intersects with the Ren Channel at Tiantu point, then slanting downwards to the shoulder and join the kidney below the tenth vertebra of the back.
