原译：

改译：

showing off colour stored up over the year 

说明：

Showcase的本意是用于展示物品的“玻璃橱柜” （a glass container used to store and display items in a shop or museum or home)，做动词是“展示”之意，即通过特殊的布置方法，显示某件事物的独到之处。用在这里不合适。“…for years”的意思并不是“终年”，而是“多年来”。

2. 搭配不当

搭配是指一个词经常与哪些词用在一起。如搭配错误，让人读起来不舒服、不知所云或产生误解。例如，课文中的“往上看”，原译为raise your sight，这一搭配并不存在。如果要用sight，就要符合sight的搭配规律。Sight作为“视野”讲，可以搭配的词语有：come into Then the towers of the castle came into sight. I disappear from，vanish from She watched until the car disappeared from sight. I hide ( sth) from, remove sth from I hid the papers from sight. I keep sth in Keep their car in sight for as long as you can. 如果要用 raise，应当说 raise your gaze、raise your eyes。

“日光毒”原译 The sunlight is scorching；如用 scorching，应该说 The sun is scorching.“在北平住惯的人”原译 habitual dweller of Peiping，搭配不当，解释为someone who is used to living in Beiping即可。法律中倒是有一个概念叫“惯常居住地”，英文是place of habitual residence，但用在这里不合适。“明天也许就是春天了吧?”译为Hopefully, spring will come around tomorrow?也属于搭配不当，come around的意思是visit，主语是 “人”。

如果说这些搭配错误还能让人看出意思来，有些搭配恐怕难以让人理解。例如：“由澄清的河水慢慢往上看吧，空中，半空中，天上”，原译为 “Raise your sight slowly from the crystal clear waters through the lower and mid-sky to the zenith，—系列的搭配错误和用词不当，使得读者有些费解。改译：As you raise your eyes slowly from the transparent depths and look up gradually to the sky.
