据《汉英词典》，“里弄”译作“ neighborhood”，"街道”亦作“neighborhood”。有什么译法能把“街道”，”里弄”在英语中也有所区别呢？这是值得大家进一歩研究的问题。但是解决的线索已经有了，即下例（内容与我国无关）中的“neighborhood block”。

Prisoners' families are kept under constant surveillance by the committee for the Defense of the Revolution ( neighborhood block committees) and the polices.

特别值得注意是，例中指的并不是我国，而是古巴的情况。这在语言上来说，就更少汉语翻译的“ 汉语腔英语”之嫌了。那么， 比如说用“neighborhood block committee”译我们的“街道委员会” 而用“neighborhood alley committee”之类译“里（弄）委（员）会”（现已改称“居委员”）行不行呢？还是以community committee”译前者而以“neighborhood block committee”译后者呢？还是作为译名方案，在这里提出来，求正于读者吧。
