在汉译英实践中，时常会遇到这样的词组，例如“温度高、变化快、周期短、效果好”，“能量消耗少、噪声水平低、输出功率大、制动能力强”，等等。这类“名词（或名词词组）+形容词”的结构，在现代汉语句法中称为“主谓词组”或“主谓结构”。当若干个这样的词组连用时，由于它们在结构上大同小异，如何组织英译文，有时还颇为费神。本文拟介绍这种结构连用时的几种英译方法。

一、译作“形容词+名词”组合

1. 输电线路勘测的主要特点是综合协作性强、业务牵涉面大、技术专业广、协议对象多、勘测条件艰苦、行政组织工作重要等等。

The surveying of power transmission lines, in the main, involves an all-round close co-ordination, a wide scope of work, extensive technical specialities, numbers of negotiating parties, immense surveying difficulties, essential administrative and organizational duties, etc.

2.……综上所述，我们可以看到，科技英语在很大程度上是一种书面语，它的词汇具有词义固定、涵义精确、专业性强、不具主观色彩等特点，而它的语法结构严谨、行文简练。

...To sum up，we can see that the English for Science and Technology, to a great extent, is a kind of written language. Its vocabulary is marked with fixed sense, precise connotation, high specialization and absence of subjectivity, while its grammatical structure is rigid and style of writing neat and concise.

二、译作“形容词+in+名词”组合

3. 该厂生产的各类型钻头均符合API标准，产品工艺先进、结构新颖、钢材优质、制造精细、质检严格，均已达到国内同类钻头的先进水平。

Bits of all types manufactured in the factory conform to the API standards. The products are advanced in technology, novel in structural design, superior in steel quality, fine in workmanship and strict in quality control, reaching in all these respects the advanced

level of the domestically made bits of the kind.

4. 人们认为这种实验构思独特、装置合理、计算精确、方法得当，所以在较短时间内已获得令人满意的结果。

The experiment is considered unique in conception, rational in installation, accurate in calculation and appropriate in method, thus able to have produced a satisfactory result in less time than expected.

三、译作“名词+in+名词”组合

5. 由于这台仪器性能稳定、操作可靠、维修方便，因此受到用户的好评。

The instrument has been welcomed by the users because of its stability in serviceability, reliability in operation and simplicity in

maintenance.

当然，文无定法。上述译法有些是可以互换的。汉语主谓词组连用时的英译法也不限于以上几种，这里就不一一列举了。
