2) 各种材料的磁特性有很大的不同。

Various substances differ widely in their magnetic characteristics.

(二十一）汉语状语转换成英语的表语 

汉语状语有时可转换成英语的表语。例如：

1)这种想法不容易出现，因为人们的头脑容易沿着活塞发动机或涡轮发动机的传统路子去思考。

This notion was probably difficult to develop because people's minds would tend to be pulled along the separate tracks of either conventional piston engines or turbines.

2) 氧不难与其它元素化合向成为ー种化合物。

It is not hard for oxygen to unite with other elements and become a compound.

汉语状语有时可转换成英语的谓语。例如：

1) 显像管的作用不难说清楚。

What the image tube does is not hard to describe.

2) 工人们成功地制造了各种类別高质量的半导体装置。

The workers have succeeded in making high quality semiconductor devices of all types.
