Different types of interpretation are shown in the following diagram:

1.Oral-Oral Interpretation

1)Consecutive/Impromptu interpretation

2) Simultaneous interpretation

3)On-the-spot interpretation, a type of interpretation usually carried out on construction sites, at factories where demonstrations and trial-runs of machinery or equipment are performed, or at a commodity fair where manufactured goods of a factory or a corporation areon display.

2. Written-Oral Interpretation1)Reading interpretation, a type of interpretation with the interpreter reading in silence the speech in the source language and reproducing it in the target language sentence by sentence.

2) Prepared interpretation, a type of interpretation with the interpreter doing silent paragraph-reading in the source language and producing the main idea of each paragraph in the target language.

3. Oral-Written Interpretation

A rarely-used type of interpretation, similar to listening dictation with the speaker talking in the source language and the interpreter taking quick notes of what is said and then producing it in the target language according to the notes.
