推进发展是巩固和平的根本保障。曼德拉先生曾说：消除贫困并非做慈善，而是事关正义。消除贫困就是保护基本人权。只要存在贫困，就谈不上真正的自由。曼德拉先生的告诫在今天仍然具有强大的现实意义。当今世界的许多问题都能从贫困落后上找到根源，也都需要通过发展寻求根本解决之道。要坚持标本兼治消除冲突根源，全面推进落实2030年可持续发展议程，帮助发展中国家改善民生，增强发展能力，为实现可持续和平提供根本保障。

To keep peace, development is a fundamental approach we must follow. Nelson Mandela once said and I quote, "Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right. While poverty persists, there is no true freedom." His admonition is still highly relevant today. Many of the world's problems are rooted in poverty and underdevelopment, and we have to seek a fundamental cure through development. As we set out to address both the symptoms and root causes of conflicts, efforts have to be made to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in all aspects, assist developing countries in improving livelihood and build development capacity, so as to lay the groundwork for durable peace.

　　曼德拉先生是中南关系的奠基人之一，为中南关系、中非关系发展作出了重要贡献。中国和非洲是休戚与共的命运共同体和合作共赢的利益共同体。发展同非洲国家的团结合作是中国对外政策的重要基础，也是中方长期、坚定的战略选择。

　　前不久，中非合作论坛北京峰会成功举办，这也是对曼德拉先生的最好的纪念。中非领导人共同谋划中非关系未来发展，擘画了中非合作的宏伟蓝图。习近平主席提出中非要携起手来，共同打造更加紧密的中非命运共同体，重点实施“八大行动”，引领中非关系发展迈入新时代。北京峰会也为进一步深化南南合作拓展了新的广阔空间，为世界和平、稳定与发展注入了强大的正能量。

Mr. President,

Nelson Mandela is one of the founding fathers of China-South Africa relations. He had made important contributions to China's relations with South Africa and with Africa as a whole. Together, China and Africa form a community with a shared future and share closely entwined converging interests. Enhancing solidarity and cooperation with African countries is a major cornerstone of China's foreign policy, as well as a long-term strategic commitment that China has made.

In this vein, the recently concluded Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation served as a most suitable commemoration for Nelson Mandela. Leaders of China and Africa gathered together in Beijing to draw the blueprints for the future of China-Africa relationship and cooperation. President Xi Jinping called on China and Africa to join hands for an even stronger community with a shared future and proposed "eight major initiatives" of cooperation, ushering in a new era for China-Africa relations. The Beijing Summit also opened up a broad new space for deepening South-South cooperation and injected powerful positive energy to peace, stability and development of the world.

　　我们呼吁世界各国以曼德拉诞辰百年为新起点，以本次和平峰会为新契机，携手构建人类命运共同体，共同建设持久和平、普遍安全的世界!
