Speech by Ambassador Qin Jian at the Reception in Celebration of the 69th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China

　　大家上午好！

　　值此中华人民共和国成立69周年之际，我谨代表中国大使馆热烈欢迎各位嘉宾的光临，感谢大家与我们一道为中华人民共和国生日祝福。

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good morning.

On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, I warmly welcome your attendance and thank you for joining us in celebrating the birthday of the People's Republic of China.

　　69年前，在中国共产党领导下，中国人民推翻了压在头上的帝国主义、封建主义、官僚资本主义，实现了国家独立和民族解放，建立了新中国。

　　69年来，在中国共产党带领下，中国人民团结奋斗，历经千难万险，推进社会主义建设，实现了国家发展和民族振兴，开辟了中国特色社会主义道路。

　　40年来特别近5年来，在中国共产党率领下，中国人民坚持对外开放基本国策，打开国门搞建设，戮力同心，攻坚克难，撸起袖子加油干，中国已发展成为世界第二大经济体，对世界经济增长的贡献率超过30%，在联合国现行标准下，7亿多人口成功脱贫，中国的发展惠及世界各国人民。

69 years ago, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people overturned imperialism, feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism which weighed like mountains on their backs, realized national independence and liberation, and established a New China.

Over the last 69 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, with united strength and after an arduous journey, the Chinese people have promoted socialist construction, achieved national development and rejuvenation, and blazed a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Over the last 40 years especially the recent 5 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have adhered to the basic state policy of opening up to the outside world and opened the country to engage in construction. They have united as one, tackled difficulties, and worked hard with sleeves rolled up. Today China stands as the world's second largest economy and contributes more than 30% to the world economic growth. By the current UN standard, more than 700 million people have been successfully lifted out of poverty. China's development has benefited the people of the world.
