While引导的状语从句，翻译时要比when复杂点，while句中的动作时间要长些，表示动作在持续。因而，有时译为“当”、“趁”；有时表示两个动作的反差，可译为“却”、“而”; 有时也不译。

比如：The rich wallow in weather while the poor starve.

译为：有钱的富得流油，（而）没钱的却在挨饿。（如意译可译为：朱门酒肉臭，路有冬 死骨。）
