中国与东帝汶隔海相望，传统友谊源远流长。早在公元14世纪，就有中国人来东开展贸易。东是中国古代海上丝绸之路的重要一站。中方长期支持东民族解放斗争，是最早支持东独立和同东建交的国家之一。东恢复独立后，中方高度重视对东关系，积极发展双方互利合作，向东提供力所能及的援助。东历届政府奉行对华友好政策，坚持一个中国原则，在中方核心关切问题上给予坚定支持。建交16年来，两国政治互信不断增强，各领域互利务实合作全面推进，中东关系保持良好发展势头。
Ladies and gentlemen,
China and Timor-Leste are neighbors just across the sea and enjoy a friendly relationship. Chinese people came to Timor-Leste to do business no later than the 14th century. Timor-Leste was one of the links of ancient Chinese Maritime Silk Road. In the course of modern history, China has always been supporting the national liberation of Timor-Leste and was among the first to recognize its independence and establish diplomatic ties. After Timor-Leste's restoration of independence in the new century, China has attached great importance to the relations with Timor-Leste, conducted active and win-win cooperation, offered assistance and aid to the best of its ability. Meanwhile, the successive governments of Timor-Leste have adopted a friendly policy towards China, adhered to the one-China principle and rendered support to China's core concerns. It can be said that, since the establishment of diplomatic ties 16 years ago, political mutual trust between China and Timor-Leste has been continuously enhanced, and practical cooperation of mutual benefit in various fields has been comprehensively advanced. China-Timor-Leste relations have maintained good momentum.
两国始终是守望相助的好邻居，真诚相待的好朋友，平等合作的好伙伴。中国坚持国家不分大小、不分发展阶段一律平等，充分尊重东人民自主选择国家发展道路的权利。2014年，双方将两国关系提升为睦邻友好、互信互利的全面合作伙伴关系。中方愿把中东关系打造成国际关系中大小国家平等相待、互利共赢、共同发展的典范。
两国经贸合作关系密切，中国连续多年成为东第二大贸易伙伴。中东双方签署“一带一路”合作谅解备忘录，加强发展战略对接。来东投资兴业的中国企业日益增多，涉足基础设施、农业、贸易等多个领域。近期，中国企业承建的苏艾高速公路1期项目正式通车，成为两国“一带一路”合作的最新成果。
China and Timor-Leste have always been treating each other as good neighbors, good friends, and good partners. China insists that all countries are equal regardless of size, irrelevant to the economic developing level, and respects fully the right for Timorese to choose its national independence and development paths. In 2014, the two countries established comprehensive partnership of good-neighbourly friendship, mutual trust and mutual benefit. China is willing to make the bilateral relations a model for equal treatment, mutual benefit and common development in international relations.
China and Timor-Leste enjoy close economic and trade cooperation. China has become Timor-Leste's second largest trading partner for many years. The two sides signed a MOU on the Belt and Road cooperation to strengthen strategic synergy. More and more Chinese companies are coming to do business in Timor-Leste, involved in various fields like infrastructure, agriculture, commerce, etc. Recently, the inauguration of Suai Highway undertaken by a Chinese enterprise has become one of the latest achievements of the Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries.
