11月上旬，首届中国国际进口博览会在上海成功举行，吸引了172个国家、地区和国际组织，3600多家企业参展，40多万名境内外采购商到会洽谈采购，成交额达到578亿美元。有近180家美国企业参加企业展，参展企业数量位列第三，涉及高端制造、智能装备、农产品、文化体育等领域。一批世界五百强的企业和行业龙头企业或者机构报名参展。他们参展热情高涨，合作意愿强烈。

In early November, the first China International Import Expo was successfully held in Shanghai, attracting 172 countries, regions, and international organizations. More than 3,600 companies participated in the exhibition, and more than 400,000 domestic and foreign buyers attended the conference to negotiate purchases, with a turnover of $57.8 billion. More than 4,500 well-known figures from all circles of life attended the Hongqiao International Economic and Trade Forum. Ranking third in the amount of companies in attendance, a total of nearly 180 US companies, from fields as diverse as high-end manufacturing, intelligent equipment, agricultural products, and culture and sports, participated in the corporate pavillion. Additionally, a number of Fortune 500 companies and industry leading enterprises or institutions participated in the exhibition. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and showed a strong willingness to cooperate.

当前，美国有一些人对中国的发展抱有不少猜疑，在舆论上和媒体中也有不少偏见和成见，少数人仍抱着陈旧、过时的冷战思维和零和游戏规则不放，喜欢用过去西方大国发展路径来判断中国的发展，不了解中国五千年文明和历史。我想引用中国古人一句话来形容他们，“以小人之心度君子之腹”。
在双边贸易上，美国对中国存在赤字是事实，但解决这个事情并不难，正如我刚才所说的那样，中国已做出巨大努力，我们愿进口更多美国产品，同时美方也要做出努力，而不是限制对中国的出口。
At present, there are a few people in the US who hold suspicions regarding China's development. Public opinion and the media are still riddled with bias. There are even those who hold tightly onto the old, outdated Cold War and zero-sum game mentalities. These people tend to judge China's development based off the standards of the developmental path of the Western powers through history. They don't quite understand China's 5000-year-long civilization. To borrow an ancient Chinese saying, these people are trying to "gauge the heart of a gentleman by their own mean measures."
In the sphere of bilateral trade relations, it is a fact that the United States has a deficit with China, but this is not a difficult problem to solve. As I mentioned earlier, China has begun to make tremendous efforts, and is willing to import more American products. The US is supposed also to contribute to these efforts, as opposed to limiting exports to China.
在相互认知上，美国对中国存在巨大的理解赤字，解决这个问题远比贸易问题要难得多。对许多美国人而言，他们对中国的了解很有限，在他们的脑海中，中国仍是一个巨大迷思，无法理解。在这方面，中国不断扩大改革开放，努力讲好中国的故事。显然，美国在这方面做的还很不够。
从这个意义上讲，“善良的天使”这部记录片是试图减少这个赤字的一次重要和积极的努力。同时，我们期待能看到更多像“善良的天使”这样的影片，听到更多积极的声音，不断继续为中美关系的稳定健康发展输入正能量。

In the sphere of mutual recognition, the United States has a huge deficit of understanding with regards to China, which is far more difficult to solve than the aforementioned trade issue. Many Americans have an extremely limited understanding of China. In their minds, China remains a fantastic myth that eludes comprehension. In this regard, China has continuously expanded its Reform and Opening-up policy and worked hard to share the nation's story. Obviously, the United States hasn't yet done its part.
In this sense, the creation of "Better Angels" was a critical and positive effort to try to shrink this deficit. From here on out, we look forward to seeing more films like "Better Angels", hearing more positive voices, and spreading positive energy to promote the stable and healthy development of China-US relations.
