Joint Statement between the People’s Republic of China and The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste on Establishing Comprehensive Partnership of Good-neighbourly Friendship, Mutual Trust and Mutual Benefit

一、应中华人民共和国国务院总理李克强的邀请，东帝汶民主共和国总理凯·腊拉·沙纳纳·古斯芒于2014年4月6日至14日对中国进行正式访问并出席博鳌亚洲论坛2014年年会。此访是东帝汶总理11年来首次正式访华，中方予以高度重视。
1. At the invitation of Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste paid an official visit to China and attended the annual conference of Bo’ao Forum for Asia (BFA) from 6 to 14 April 2014. This was the first official visit paid by Prime Minister of Timor-Leste in 11 years. The Chinese side attached great importance to the visit.
中华人民共和国主席习近平会见了沙纳纳总理，双方回顾了2002年5月20日两国建交以来双边关系取得的积极进展，就建立中东睦邻友好、互信互利的全面合作伙伴关系达成重要共识。李克强总理与沙纳纳总理举行了会谈，双方一致同意加强两国在政治、经贸、能源、农业、防务安全等领域的合作。全国人民代表大会常务委员会委员长张德江也会见了沙纳纳总理。
President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China met with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao. The two sides reviewed the positive progress in bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries on 20 May 2002, and reached important consensus to establish China-Timor-Leste comprehensive partnership of good-neigbourly friendship, mutual trust and mutual benefit. Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao. The two sides agreed to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, trade, energy, agricultural, defense and security areas. Chairman Zhang Dejiang of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress also met with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao.
二、中方高度评价东帝汶建国以来所取得的发展成就，愿继续为东帝汶国家建设、社会发展、民生改善提供力所能及的帮助。东方表示珍视同中国的友谊，感谢中国政府和人民在东帝汶独立和建国时期给予的大力支持和援助。
2. The Chinese side spoke highly of the achievements Timor-Leste made in its development since its founding, and expressed its willingness to continue rendering help within the scope of its capacity to Timor-Leste for its national development, social progress and improvement of people’s well-being. The Timor-Leste side cherished the friendship with China and expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their enormous support and assistance before and after Timor-Leste was founded as an independent country.
