3. 表示假设
should用在 if 条件句中，一般是表示语气较强的假设，如果省略if，应将should 移至主语之前。可译为“万一”、“一旦”、“如果真”等。如：

万一放射性的物质污染周围环境，人的生命就有危险。
* Should problems occur, the troubleshooting tips can help to determine the cause.

* Should it be necessary, this unit can raise oven temperature to 475°F.
如果真有必要的话，这个装置可将炉内温度提高到475华氏度。
4. for fear that 句型
should 用于由 “for fear that”, “lest”, “for fear”, “so that” 等引导的目的状语从句中，这时should常省译。如：
* The parts to be joined must be arranged so that there should be sufficient clearance for the welding operation.
被连接件应当这样布置，即必须留有足够的空隙.以便于焊接操作。
