* Waves may interfere to attenuate or boost the resultant wave.
波可能相互干渉，从而使合成的波减弱或增强。
* There might be mechanical losses when removing the anodes and cathodes from the tanks.
当阴阳电极从电解池中移走时，会产生机械损失。
3. 用在目的状语从句中
may和might可用在（so) that或in order that后的目的状语从句中，这时may表示现在时或将来时，might表示过去时，有时可以省译may或might，但是翻译时要把目的概念译出来。如：
* A rocket must attain a speed of about five miles per second so that it may put a satellite in orbit.
火箭必须获得大约5英里每秒的速度以便把卫星送入轨道。
* The plant requires nitrogen in order that they may make proteins.
植物需要氮以便制造蛋白质。
* When our high level language program is fed into the machine, the compiler translates it into machine code so that it may be followed by the computer.
高级语言程序输入计算机之后，编译程序就把它译成机器代码，以便计算机执行。
4. 用在让步状语从句中
may和might可用在让步状语从句中，翻译时要把让步概念译出来。如：
