如有刀痕，也应是沿试样的长度方向。
(2) 译为助动词
当if any修饰主句的非主语成分，多译成助动词“可能”。
* These tests should also be carried to failure to determine the leeway, if any, in the design.
这些试验也应进行到破坏情况出现为止，以确定设计中可能存在的允许误差。
* This investigation is concerned with identifying the effects, if any, of the major alloying elements on hot cracking.
这ー研究与确定主要合金元素对热裂可能产生的影响有关。
(3) 译为“几乎没”
主句中如有little，few等表示否定含义的词，if any则通常译成“几乎没（有)”。
* In fact, the high alloy austenitic steels lose little, if any, of their toughness until extremely low temperatures are reached.
事实上，没有达到极低的温度前，高合金奥氏体钢几乎没降低其韧性。
* There were very few, if any, people had been infected with the AIDS virus through blood transfusions thirty years ago .
三十年前几乎没有人通过输血感染上艾滋病毒。
