1.方剂 通译为prescription，也有人译作recipe，还有人译作formula，但都不如prescription流行。从约定俗成的角度来看，Prescription业已成为“方剂”的对应语。
这里附带说明一下“方剂学”的翻译，目前有人将其译作theory of prescriptions ,或 science of prescriptions 还有其它一些译法。实际上，“方剂学”译作prescriptionology是最好不过的。pre scriptionology直接源于 prescription，而且与英语中的“学”（如 “生物学” biology, “生理学” physiology等等)的表述法一致。
与“方剂”有关的术语的译法如下：
大方 grandiose prescriptions
小方 minor prescriptions
缓方 mild prescriptions
急方 urgent prescriptions
奇方 odd-numbered prescriptions
偶方 even-numbered prescriptions
复方 composite prescriptions
轻方 light prescriptions
单方 simple prescriptions
经方 classical prescriptions
时方 no nc lass ic a 1 prescriptions
宣剂 dispersing prescriptions
泄剂 purgative prescriptions
重剂 heavy prescriptions
滑剂 lubricating prescriptions
补剂 tonic prescriptions
涩剂 astringent prescriptions
燥剂 dry prescriptions
湿剂 moistening prescriptions
寒剂 cold prescriptions
热剂 heat prescriptions
升剂 ascending prescriptions
降剂 descending prescriptions
2.配伍 即根据病情需要，按照中医理法原则来组合药物常译作 composition of prescription 或 composing a prescription。 但在其它一些情况下，“配伍”则需译作compatibility，如“配伍禁忌”就应译作contraindication of compatibility,而不宜译作contraindication of the composition of prescription。
3. 十八反 指十八种性能相反的药物，常见的译法有：
antagonism among the eighteen medicinal herbs
eighteen incompatible medicaments
eighteen incompatibilities
相比较而言，eighteen incompatibilities显然优于另外二种译法。incompatibility即不能配伍，不能同用，与“反”的意思完全一样。
