Remarks by Ambassador Yue at Global Model Confucius Institute Unveiling Ceremony for UCD Confucius Institute

尊敬的安德鲁·迪克斯校长，
老师们，同学们，
女士们，先生们，
大家下午好。
首先我代表中国驻爱尔兰使馆，对田学军副部长一行访问爱尔兰表示欢迎，对田副部长访爱取得的丰硕成果表示祝贺。田副部长在中爱建交40周年之际率中国教育部代表团访问爱尔兰，充分表明中国政府对中爱关系的高度重视以及进一步扩大中爱教育与人文等各领域务实合作的真诚意愿。

Good afternoon!
First of all, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Vice-Minister Tian Xuejun on his visit to Ireland and my hearty congratulations on the bountiful results so far achieved by the Chinese education delegation. The fact that Vice-Minister Tian has led a delegation from the Ministry of Education to visit Ireland and to hold the 5th Meeting of the China-Ireland Joint Working Group on Education with the Department of Education and Skills fully manifests the importance the Chinese government attaches to China-Ireland relations and its sincere willingness to further expand cooperation in education and culture between our two countries.
都柏林大学孔子学院是中爱语言文化交流合作的典范，在中文与中国文化的教学与研究方面成果显著，由中、爱两国政府和都柏林大学共同出资建设的都柏林大学孔子学院旗舰大楼在全球独一无二，这一成功的项目凝聚了中爱双方领导人和两国各界友好人士的远见和智慧，在此，我特别要对迪克斯校长和爱方团队表示崇高的敬意和诚挚的感谢。都柏林大学孔子学院所取得的成就，是中爱关系不断深入发展结出的硕果，也是在中国教育部、爱尔兰教育与技能部、国家汉办、都柏林大学以及中国人民大学的共同合作下，王黎明和张伟院长带领全体孔院教师和志愿者辛勤工作的成果。都柏林大学院成为全球示范孔院实至名归，当之无愧。我相信，通过我们共同努力，中爱友谊与交流一定会不断巩固发展，中爱语言文化和教育交流与合作前景将更加光明。
A paragon of exchanges and cooperation in language and culture between China and Ireland, the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland well deserves the title of Global Model Confucius Institute. Over the years it has made remarkable achievements in the teaching and research of Chinese language and culture. The flagship building of the UCD Confucius Institute, jointly funded by the governments of China and Ireland as well as UCD, is unique in the world. This successful project embodies the vision and wisdom of leaders at all levels and friendly endeavors of all sides. Here, I would especially like to express my sincere reverence and gratitude to President Deeks and your team for your consistent commitment and dedication. The success of the UCD Confucius Institute is the outcome of the continuous development of China-Ireland relations. Along with the hard work of Director Mr. Liming Wang, Chinese Director Mr. Zhang Wei, faculty members and volunteers of the Confucius Institute, those achievements are also attained through the support from the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Irish Department of Education and Skills, Hanban, UCD and Renmin University of China. I am confident that through our joint efforts, the friendship and exchanges between China and Ireland will continue to consolidate and develop, and the prospects for education collaboration between us will certainly become brighter.
