健康稳定的双边关系是中新经贸合作取得成功的重要前提。自建交以来，中新关系取得了巨大成就，长期处于中国与发达国家关系的前列。中新关系发展历程证明，互利共赢是两国合作的本质，相互尊重、不断扩大共同利益汇合点、妥善处理分歧是两国关系成功的关键。
当前，世界正经历大发展大变革大调整，多极化和全球化的趋势不断发展，各国日益相互依存。没有哪个国家能够独自应对人类面临的各种挑战。新技术的快速发展和应用对传统经济发展模式带来冲击，这既是中新面临的共同挑战，也为两国创新合作提供了前所未有的机遇。中新应在数字经济、人工智能、自动化等前沿科技领域加强合作，为两国经济发展提供新动力。新技术应成为两国合作的窗口，而不是双方合作的障碍。
The success of our trade and economic cooperation made a very convincing case for stronger bilateral relations between our two countries. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, we have made historic achievements and our cooperation in various fields have reached unprecedented breadth and depth. Our bilateral relationship has been on the forefront of China's relations with developed countries.
The journey of China-New Zealand relations proves that mutual benefit is the nature of our cooperation and mutual respect, the readiness to seek common ground while properly handle differences are the key to our success. Our partnership, which rests on solid complementarity, is well-positioned to be healthy, stable and resilient in a changing international environment.
The world we are living now is undergoing major development, transformation and adjustment. The trend toward multi-polarity and economic globalization is deepening, and countries are increasingly interdependent. We are facing common challenges that no country can tackle alone.
China and New Zealand are faced with similar challenges, such as the rapid development and application of new technologies and the stress such technologies are putting on our economies. But at the same time, the advancement of new technologies also presents unprecedented opportunities for innovation cooperation between our two countries.
We should intensify our cooperation in frontier areas such as digital economy, artificial intelligence and automation, so as to turn them into new driving force for our economic development. It is a shared understanding that new technology should be the window for our cooperation instead of a barrier for collaboration.
2018年是中国改革开放40周年。改革开放是过去几十年中国经济持续快速发展的关键。我们将继续致力于深化改革、扩大开放，打造世界一流的营商环境。正如习近平主席所说，“中国开放的大门不会关闭，只会越开越大”。我们将营造一个更加开放、包容的商业环境，为所有在华企业提供公平的竞争环境，共同分享中国经济发展带来的机遇。我们希望其他国家也能为当地中国企业提供公平、公开、透明的营商环境。
一个更加开放、繁荣的中国将为新西兰带来更多机遇。相信中新两国工商界将抓住机遇，挖掘合作潜力，携手创造中新互利合作更加美好的未来。

Last year, China celebrated the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up. Reform has been a key contributor to the sustained and rapid growth of China over the past four decades. Looking forward, we will make even greater efforts to see the reform through and one of our top priorities is to foster a world-class business environment.
As President Xi said, "China will not shut its door to the outside world, but open it even wider". We will create a more open, favorable and inclusive business environment, providing a level playing field for all companies in China, both domestic and foreign, allowing them to share the opportunities of China's growth. At the same tine, we sincerely hope that other countries will also provide a fair, open and transparent business environment for Chinese companies abroad.
This year, we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. We will continue to carry out reform and expand opening up. A more open and prosperous China will offer even greater opportunities to New Zealand. I believe business leaders from both countries will seize the opportunities and benefit even more from China's development.
The real work of turning the potential of our relationship into tangible benefits lies not only with the two governments, but also with business leaders and entrepreneurs like you.
Once again, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for your contributions and support to this very important relationship. I am convinced that through our joint efforts and hard work, we will bring a better future of China-New Zealand relations.
