中东关系堪称国家无论大小和经济发展水平高低，平等相待、友好合作、互利共赢的典范。中国5年前提出“一带一路”倡议，已有越来越多的国家积极参与。去年5月，首届 “一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛期间，中东两国政府签署了“一带一路”合作谅解备忘录，标志着双方合作迈向一个新高度。东帝汶也早已制定出自己的2011年~2030年发展战略规划，近年来积极推动经济发展和民生改善。可以看到，两国双边合作潜力巨大、前景广阔。我相信，在两国共同努力下，中东经贸等各领域合作将不断加强，东帝汶国内民生将会得到大幅度改善，两国共建“一带一路”将取得新的进展。中方也愿在尊重东方意愿、平等相待、互利共赢的基础上，共同为东经济发展和民生改善贡献力量。

The China-Timor-Leste relations can serve as a model of equal treatment, friendly and win-win cooperation among all nations, irrespective of size and development level. 5 years ago, China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative that has attracted more and more active participants. In May last year, China and Timor-Leste signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Cooperation under the Framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, which elevated the bilateral cooperation to a new high. Timor-Leste has long since formulated its Strategic Development Plan 2011-2030, and is now concentrating on developing its economy, and uplifting people's well-being. It could be seen that the bilateral cooperation boasts great potentials and a prosperous future. I believe, with the joint efforts of our two sides, the cooperation in economy, trade and others areas will be constantly strengthened; the well-being of Timor-Leste people will be substantially improved, and new progress will be made in jointly building the Belt and Road. On the basis of respect for the will of Timor-Leste and in line with the principle of equal footing, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, China is willing to work with all other countries to contribute to the economic development of Timor-Leste and the livelihood of its people.
