3. 直接式结构译法

对于传递满意的信息的信函中,可采用“直接式结构”译法,即把令人满意的信息放置于信首,然后做出必要解释,最后用客气礼貌语表达希望或感谢。

例:Dear Sirs,

We are pleased to inform you about the following goods under our Contract No. CC1200. (news message)

Copies of the relative shipping documents are enclosed, thus you may find no trouble in taking delivery of the goods when they arrive. (necessary explanation)

Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we wish to thank you for your close cooperation. (thanks)

译文:

敬启者:

我们很高兴通知贵方关于第CC1200号合同中的货物信息。(新信息)

随信附上相关的运输文件,可在货物到达时顺利提货。(必要解释)

借此机会,特此感谢我们的合作。(感谢)


4. 间接式结构译法

表达令人不满意的信息时,为了避免过于唐突,直率,一般采用“间接式结构”译法,包含了五个部分:中立陈述;缘由;拒绝;补救方法;客气的结束语。这种布局是为了缓和语气,避免直率。如下列拒绝理赔函。

例:Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of 8th June and regret to note your complain respecting the Woolen Goods sent you by s.s. Dongfeng.(中立陈述)

We have booked up the matter in our records, and so far as we can find, the goods in question were in first-class condition when they left here, as was evidenced by the Bill of lading. It is therefore quite obvious that damage complained of must have taken place in transit.(原因). In the circumstances,we are apparently not liable for the damage (拒绝) and would advise you to claim on the shipping company who should be held responsible(补救办法).

At any rate, we thank you for bringing this to our attention and if you feel it necessary we shall be pleased to take the matter up on your behalf with the shipping company concerned(客气结语).

译文:

敬启者:

我方已收到你方6月8日的信件,得知您对东风号货船所运送的羊毛制品的投诉。(中立陈述)

我们查询了我方记录,据我们所发现,货物在离岸时绝对是优等品,以提货单为证。因此,所投诉的毁坏应该是在运输过程中发生的。(原因)这种情况下,我方显然不会货物损坏负责,(拒绝)建议你方向船运公司投诉。(补救办法)

无论如何,非常感谢你方让我方获知此事,若有必要,我方将协助你方与船运公司进行磋商。(客气结语)
